By Degrees: Going to University from Care
20th October 2015
In 2004, Buttle UK completed a five-year commissioned action research project exploring the experiences of 50 care leavers who go to university, it was funded by a number of grant making trusts.
The project findings influenced Government, local authorities, universities and schools to recognise the potential of children in care and provide the support they need to achieve in higher education. Recommendations from the research were included in the Government 'Care Matters: Transforming the lives of young people in care' White Paper in 2007 and are now incorporated in legislation.
