How to Apply

Buttle UK may offer help for living costs such as rent, food, bills, transport or course materials. It is expected that Course or Tuition Fees will be met by statutory sources.

We CAN help young people who are:

  • Estranged from their family;
  • Orphaned;
  • Adopted;
  • Cared for by relatives or friends;
  • Caring for a severely sick or disabled single parent;
  • Refugees with full refugee status or Indefinite Leave to Remain in the UK.

We CANNOT help young people who are:

  • Studying second degrees, postgraduate courses or studying overseas;
  • Looked after by a local authority or Health Board in Northern Ireland;
  • Living outside the UK.
  • 25 or over.
  • experiencing financial hardship as their single fundamental problem. 

To make an application you will need:

  • To be resident in the UK
  • To be aged between 16 and 20. An exception may be made if both the course and the financial support from Buttle UK began before the applicant was 21.
  • To have applied for the maximum student loan, if studying in Higher Education.
  • To have applied for any additional help that may be available from the further or higher education institution, e.g. bursaries and hardship funds.
